Are Cats Trying To Take Over The World?

Our feline pals have a pretty auspicious (or maybe even pawspicious) holiday planned for June 24. It’s the day cats celebrate their plans to rule the world! This cute little event honors these adorable little balls of fun and mischief. While cat world domination may seem like a stretch, keep in mind that these little furballs do have a way of wrapping their humans around those tiny paws. In this piece, a Marshall County, MS vet gives some advice on how to celebrate with Fluffy.

Cat World Domination Day

Cat World Domination Day is a celebration of cats, their big personalities, and our friendship with them. It’s also a chance to think about what would happen if kitties did take over.

Let’s look into the background of the holiday. Cat World Domination Day was created as a birthday present for the kitties of the sparklecat blog in 2012. That’s at least what the official story says. It very well could be the date that Fluffy chose to go for World Domination.

Would Cats Really Like To Take Over The World?

We really don’t have any proof to give you an official answer to this question. The last three people who tried to look into the subject disappeared under strange circumstances and have never been seen again.

If Cats Really Took Over The World, What Would Happen?

Although our feline patients aren’t talking, we do have an idea what would happen. Fluffy’s official list of requests would have these items on it:

Statues: You could probably count on seeing huge images of cats in every town square.

Street Names: It’s likely that all streets and towns would be named after famous cats. This would mean that every town would have a lot of Garfield drives, avenues, roads, parkways, circles, courts, and lanes, since there aren’t that many popular cats.

Garden of Catnip: Putting in catnip plants in every public square and park would likely be another change to the infrastructure. You could also add spider plants and jasmine because Fluffy likes them.

Nix Mondays: Because of Garfield, Mondays might not be allowed on the calendar anymore. Unfortunately, we’d just have two Tuesdays.

Moats And Ponds Stocked With Fish: Fluffy would probably also like to see ponds and moats with fish in front of every house. This isn’t as far-fetched as it sounds: People in ancient China loved cats so much that many towns set up fishponds just for them.

Water and Food Bowls for Stray Cats: On a more serious note, the world has millions of stray cats. We would like to see more help homeless kitties. If cats were in charge of everything, you may see more things like food and water stations and shelters.

This one is also based on real events. In Turkey, for example, stray cats are mostly taken care of like community pets. A lot of places of business let the cats come in, eat, and drink, and even find a nice spot to sleep. Fluffy is also having a good time in Italy, where similar customs purrsist.

New Rules For Building: Do you have a catio put in for your cat? Do all of Fluffy’s rooms have beds, window seats, and at least one cat tower? Do you have at least one box tower and a cat garden? If not, you might have to make some repairs.

Where Is The Proof That Cats Want To Take Over The World?

We still haven’t found any real files or hard facts on this one. But there are some past hints to think about.

To begin, there is Egypt. The Egyptians thought of Fluffy as a goddess, and even had a cat goddess in their pantheon. In fact, Egyptians loved cats so much that when a family cat died, the furball’s family would shave their brows to show their grief. The Sphynx is another good example of how cats were looked up to (or maybe even feared) in that time.

Life wasn’t too bad for Fluffy in ancient Siam either. She was the pet of many royal and wealthy families and was, of course, spoiled rotten.

Then there are the Cat Book Poems. The Cat Treatise, which is also called the Tamra Meow or The Cat-Book of Poems, is one of the best pieces of proof that cats rule the world. This is an old samut khoi manuscript that was likely made by Buddhist monks between the 14th and 18th centuries. You probably already guessed that the book is all about our feline overlords!

Of course, our feline pals have also left their mark in less grand ways. Kitty pawprints have been found on texts from the Middle Ages and in the cement from Roman buildings.

How Is Fluffy Preparing For Taking Control Of The World?

Turns out, Man’s Second Best Friend has been trained for this takeover for decades. Fluffy spent a very long time getting good at using her claws and teeth. In fact, cats start trying to scratch and bite almost as soon as they are born. (They usually do this by practicing on us, but that’s a different subject.)

Cats have been doing more than just martial arts, though. They also want to become great programmers, which they do by sleeping on machines and walking across keyboards. They read, and they also sleep on books to achieve this. Some of our feline friends have also tried their hand at different jobs. They have learned about spying, politics, and shopping, to name a few.

We can’t forget that cats are actually cute little evil killers. Every year, these cute, innocent-looking balls of fur kill a lot of small animals. Talk to your  vet about how to keep your cat safe.

How Can We Stop Cats From Taking Over The World?

There are some things we might be able to do to keep cats from taking over the world. First things first? Don’t forget to get your cat fixed. One of the reasons there are so many homeless cats in the world is that there are too many people.

Also, just make sure that your furry little boss is healthy, happy, and purring. Get Fluffy a new toy or some catnip. You could also make her feel better by playing with her or touching her for a little longer.

What else could you do? Keep your fuzzy friend inside where it’s safe. This will not only stop Fluffy’s plans to take over the world, but it will also protect her from cars, the weather, predators, and diseases. It will also make it much less likely that she will get lost, hurt, or worse.

You might want to give your cute pet a treat here and there, too. You can use salmon, chicken, or fish as long as there is no skin, bones, and fat.

Talk to your vet about more ways to keep your cat healthy and happy.
