kitty1.pngAppointments

Our appointment book is computerized which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability. Emergencies are accepted anytime our clinic is open. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us or come to the hospital immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that our staff can prepare for your specific emergency and advise you on in transit care.

Emergency & Urgent Care

We have a veterinarian and personnel on duty 7 days a week who are trained and equipped to handle any urgent care your pet has. Usually an emergency team consists of at least one veterinarian and several technicians working together to save a pet's life. Emergencies can be things such as snail bait poisoning, hit by car, and chocolate ingestion. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency treatment do not hesitate to call or come in immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a team member can advise you on your particular emergency.

We are also available for urgent care when the condition is not life-threatening. If you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get an appointment, our veterinarians will work to "squeeze" you in between scheduled appointments. When you arrive, our receptionists will be able to give you an estimate on how long you may have to wait in order to be seen.

Our Story

Willow Bend Animal Clinic was founded by Dr. Childers in 1978.  He first began practicing in a small building on Stewart Street.  In 1981, he constructed the original portion of our clinic and built his practice from the ground up.  In 1991 Dr. Thompson joined the practice as a partner and they have since started and sold a clinic in Ripley, MS and purchased an established practice in New Albany, MS. Our new client area, featuring an expanded reception area and waiting room, four exam rooms, and a treatment lab, began construction in September 2014 and was completed in February 2015. Previous client area was remodeled and features a dual bay surgical suite, larger in-house laboratory, expanded pharmacy, and treatment area.  With the only board certified Theriogenologist in the area, we also have an in-house reproductive laboratory!  In January 2018, Dr. Childers sold his interest in Willow Bend Animal Clinic to long time business partner and friend, Dr. Thompson.
